    2 Part Window (MULTI_MANAGER use training)

    COMPLEATLY REDOING THIS TUTORIAL IN A BETTER WAY
    OLD VIDEOS





    Building 2 part windows (MultiManager use basics)

    first we have our window


    its built with a wood cross section now we want it to break with the window but if we group them they will both be transparent ?? heres how to do it

    First select all the glass parts of the window

    press
    and this will tie the block to a entity
    this will pop up

    go to
    func_breakable (This entity will create blocks that can be broken by a set amount of damage or by a trigger)


    now we are going to name the entity
    wind-wood (when you name something u want it to be short but something you will understand when you see in a list following. this will save you a lot of headache later in mapping more advanced stuff)

    from here you want to go to
    Render Mode

    select Texture (this mode will allow some light to pass through the block)
    now on to the render FX

    this sets the amount of light that can go through here is 100 i make most my Windows around 100-130

    (NOTE some editors wont show this change and note that this is only a preview the final way it looks in game will be a lot different )
    now lets go over to the flags tab on the top of the window
    heres what will pop up

    we are going to pick Only trigger (this will make the item unbreakable unless triggered )
    now select the wood parts that will break




    PART 2





    press (TIE to Entity)

    now we are going to name this part

    and then in flags hit only trigger
    now back to the main screen close all these boxs
    pick this from your tools

    this is for point entity's (entity's not tied to anything)
    just click somewhere in the 3d view and youll get a point entiy


    my default is info_player_start(CT spawn) so thats whats going on here now right click on it in any of the views but 3d
    this is the menu that will open
    go down to properties and this will open

    go to the scroll menu

    and find multi_manager this is a tool i looked for for years lol but i never could find this will open so many possibility's

    now one glance at this and your like WTF ok let me stop here to tell you about a MM (Multi_manager)

    Multi Manager ;
    This is a tool that allows for multiple entity's to be triggers at once and you can use it to add delays on signals coming out this is so simple but so useful its insane


    so the first part is name it

    now we need to turn off smart edit
    (this will turn off your .fdg and allow full editing this is only for advanced users outside this use)
    click

    now we need to add the outputs
    click

    (above) then this will open for key you need to add the name of an item you want triggered

    now value will be your trigger 1=1 second

    (NOTE you should never put 0 it will not work never go below .2 .3)

    here is it with both of the window parts added


    now we need a trigger go to textures and select

    and build a square where the windows is just a little thicker so its exposed on both sides

    now select the aatrigger and press

    and set it to func_breakable

    set name to

    set target on break

    using the drop down menu it will list all entity's that can be triggered we need to pick our MM (Multi_manager)
    now we set the amount of damage it takes to break



    and that should be it lets test it
